"To elevate the precious soul of Naama Chana, and in the merit of her dear family, may we all take upon ourselves - and demand of ourselves - to do something practical and tangible in the community."
I will try my best to conform and hopefully also give cause for an elevation of Naama Chana’s pure soul.It is customary that when comforting a mourner we say, “may hashem comfort you amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.” seemingly, the passing of a four year old girl is a personal tragedy for the family and the community. but the destruction of Zion and Jerusalem, (and its ultimate rebuilding), is a connection to all of Israel. so why then do we wish this on the passing of an individual which is seemingly the mourning of a specific individual?
The Noam Shabbos project is intended to create a greater awareness and deeper understanding of the purpose of Shabbos. Our goal is to learn and internalize the teachings of Rav Shimshon Pincus z"l in his sefer Shabbos Kodesh, through which we can truly appreciate the most precious gift that Hashem gave to us. The sefer Shabbos Kodesh, which is generally available in both English and Hebrew at any local Judaica store, comprises a series of lectures by Rav Pincus z"l on Shabbos that were adapted for print. We will learn a section of this sefer each week and the pace will be set with the intention of finishing the entire sefer by Naama's first yahrtzeit.
Each week every participant in this project will receive via e-mail a newsletter that details the section of the sefer that is assigned for that week, plus a review of some of the messages gleaned from the prior week's section. In addition, the weekly newsletter will include a brief Halacha from Hilchos Shabbos that will be informative and practical, as well as insights into the special Tefillos of Shabbos that are sure to enhance our Davening. May our learning of the true beauty of Shabbos inspire us and our families and may it be a Zechus for Naama's Neshama.
You may sign up to receive these weekly newsletters via e-mail by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page. The contents of the weekly newsletters may also be viewed and downloaded by clicking here.
